In Unit 2, students draft, perform, and stage a black box theater production. Our production is grounded in original personal memoirs written by our students. Students advance narrative skills, including action, description, and dialogue, and they connect their writing towards a larger main idea and theme.
The Memoir Project is inspired by the award-winning productions of Secret Histories by Ping Chong + Co. Documentary theater uses research evidence, including primary source writing, to tell real stories about real people.
